SAT Prep
The role of standardized testing in college admissions has undergone significant changes over the past five years. With many colleges and universities adopting test-optional or test-blind policies, there is no uniform standard for how SAT scores are evaluated in admissions decisions. This evolving landscape presents a challenge for students as they consider whether preparing for and taking the SAT is the right choice for them.
At High Tech High Mesa, we recognize this uncertainty and are committed to supporting our students, regardless of their chosen approach to standardized testing. We offer a comprehensive, personalized strategy to help students navigate their SAT options and make informed decisions that align with their college goals.
Our SAT guidance is delivered through a three-pronged approach:
Personalized Assessment: Based on each student’s college application list and academic profile, we provide individualized advice on whether taking the SAT would enhance their applications. This personalized guidance ensures that students understand the potential impact of their scores at the institutions they are applying to.
On-Campus PSAT: We offer the PSAT on campus to all students, providing them with a valuable baseline score. This early exposure to standardized testing helps students gauge their performance and identify areas for improvement well before they take the SAT.
Free SAT Prep Course: In partnership with Paradigm Test Prep, one of San Diego’s most effective test preparation organizations, we provide a comprehensive SAT prep course at no cost to our students. This program, valued at $4,000, has a proven track record of success. On average, students who participate in the Paradigm Test Prep course see a 150-point increase in their SAT scores.
High Tech High Mesa acknowledges that while standardized testing no longer plays the dominant role in college admissions that it once did, it remains a key factor for certain colleges and scholarship programs. For students applying to institutions where SAT scores are still considered, we ensure they have access to the resources, guidance, and preparation needed to be competitive across all aspects of their applications. By offering a well-rounded support system, we empower our students to make informed choices and achieve success on their path to higher education.
